Chichester and District Archaeology Society and Chichester District Council are collaborating on the Priory Park Archaeology Project. This aims to investigate, understand and reinterpret the heritage of the park and to make the results as public as possible. Between 2016 and 2024 they have undertaken geophysical surveys of parts of the park and the excavation of a series of Roman and medieval buildings. The highlights have been the discovery of a remarkably complete Roman private bath-house and the remains of a masonry bridge abutment belonging to Chichester’s Norman Castle.
